ABOUT
Anthony and Christine Koerner bought ‘Gullyview Vineyards’ on 15 May 1987. Today they are producing some of Australia’s highest quality grapes. In 2023 son Jono and partner Megan Jenkin established ‘Gullyview Estate’ which pays homage to Christine and Anthony’s hard work through carefully crafted wines that reflect the place in which they call home. Jono was previously in business with his brother Damon Koerner. They founded Koerner Wine together back in 2014 and after 10 years, it was time for the boys to concentrate on their own projects, Damon continued Koerner Wine and that is when Gullyview Estate was born.
VINEYARD
Gullyview Estate is located in Leasingham, southern Clare Valley. The grapes are grown on Terra Rossa, Red Clay over limestone soil. Altitude ranges from 350-450 meters above sea level. The diurnal temperature variation of cold nights and warm days benefits the grapes, creating acid-driven, fruit-forward wines. The vineyard also benefits from the 'Port Wakefield Doctor' breeze from Spencer Gulf, which helps lower disease pressure, the flat and accessible terrain of Clare Valley allows for easy tractor access, which is a big plus for maintaining the vineyards.
WINEMAKING
We aim to produce wines that reflect the vineyard and variety characteristics as much as possible. Picking the grapes when there is a good balance between the acid and flavour is key, this will produce an approachable, fresh and fruit forward style which we love. We are all about consistency of quality, so any given vintage if a wine isn’t up to scratch it won’t be released, this way hopefully we build confidence in our consumers that they can select any of our wines at any time and know that it will bring great value and joy.
